In the light of something misunderstood

We are told to allow grace

To forgive some sort of slap in the face, or the heart

And turn the other cheek.

With tears sliding down reddened cheeks

And thoughts that scream Retaliate you fool

Instead we will smile

While depositing another coin into the lonely bank of soul,

As Silent Night, Holy Night plays softly from the pews.

We gather all our courage

To return to you.
